Founded in 1969, M & F Western Products has grown into a family-owned, worldwide manufacturer and distributor of western accessories. Our Story
Every great company has a beginning. For M&F Western Products, that beginning was rooted in family, hard work, the Western lifestyle, and a willingness to take a chance on a good idea.
The story begins in 1951, when Chester and Evelyn Eddins opened a small boot and shoe repair shop. Their business eventually grew into a successful Western boot and clothing store, and it was there that their sons, Mickey and Frankie, grew up surrounded by the Western industry.
In fact, the name M&F stands for Mickey and Frankie, the brothers who would carry their family's legacy forward.
Those early years would shape the future of the Eddins family and eventually lead to the creation of M&F Western Products.
In 1969, Mickey was already traveling the country selling hats. Frankie approached him with a new idea: a bootjack.
The brothers believed they could sell them, so they secured an $850 loan from Gerald Prim at the Sulphur Springs State Bank, now Alliance Bank, and purchased 1,000 bootjacks.
That small investment marked the beginning of M&F Western Novelty.
Soon after, Frankie worked with a local Goodyear tire dealer to source materials and find a manufacturer for a Western rain hat cover. The product was another success, and M&F began adding items that Western customers needed and wanted—from hat brushes and steamers to sizing tape and, eventually, Western hat bands.
The product line kept growing.
What started with two simple products, a bootjack and a rain hat cover was becoming something much bigger.

In those early days, everyone pitched in.
Linda Eddins became the company's one-and-only packer and shipper, finding creative ways to keep costs down and make the business work. She even recruited Paul and David for one of their first M&F assignments: collecting cardboard boxes.
The boys would ride along with Linda, stop behind local businesses, and retrieve boxes from dumpsters to reuse for shipping. Eventually, a local businessman agreed to save his four-gallon paint boxes for M&F to repurpose.
Linda would spend her days packing orders, loading the station wagon, taking shipments to the post office, paying bills, and sending invoices—then starting all over again the next day.
It was humble work, but it reflected something that would become part of the M&F story: everyone was willing to do whatever it took to build the business.
The popularity of the Urban Cowboy era brought a tremendous boost to Western stores and the Western lifestyle.
M&F took advantage of the opportunity by expanding its product offerings. Western belts, belt buckles, hat pins, feathers, wallets, horsehair products, hand-tooled leather goods, and countless other items were added to the line.
M&F manufactured belts in many styles, including horsehair belts, offered hand-tooled leather wallets, and sourced distinctive horsehair hat bands from Mexico.
The company wasn't simply selling products. It was becoming a supplier that helped Western retailers offer their customers the many details that make the Western lifestyle unique.
As M&F continued to expand, the company began looking beyond its original product lines and pursuing new opportunities.
In the spring of 1999, M&F purchased Nocona Belt Company in Nocona, Texas established in 1969.
In the fall of 2007, the company purchased Crumrine Manufacturing from the Crumrine family. Crumrine began as a small jewelry manufacturer in Santa Ana, California in 1948. The Crumrine family relocated the company to Reno, Nevada in the fall of 1979.
Then, in January of 2018, M&F purchased 3D Belt Company of Schulenburg, Texas established in 1988.
Each acquisition expanded M&F's capabilities, product offerings, and relationships within the Western industry.
But growth was never simply about getting bigger. It was about finding new ways to serve customers and continuing to build a company that could meet the changing needs of the market.
Throughout its history, M&F Western Products has never been afraid to invest in the future.
From full-color catalogs to laptops and scanners that helped salespeople manage store inventories, to new sales software and technology, M&F has consistently invested back into the company when it found a tool that could make the business better and more efficient.
That willingness to adapt has been an important part of the company's success.
Today, M&F continues to expand its product categories and customer base while looking for new opportunities throughout the market. With a strong sales and support team, talented designers, and sourcing trips to Mexico and Asia, the company continues working to stay ahead of trends while providing quality products at affordable prices.
For all the products, catalogs, acquisitions, technology, and growth, the heart of M&F Western Products has always been its people.
The company's growth would not have been possible without the dedication of the Eddins family, its employees, sales force, suppliers, manufacturing partners, and most importantly its customers.
Today, it takes an entire team to produce eight major catalogs each year, manage a tremendous inventory, support a growing number of product categories, and serve customers around the world.
From the warehouse to the sales force, from product development to accounting, from technology to customer support, everyone contributes to the same goal.
As the story says, the sum of the parts equals the whole. That is what makes M&F Western Products successful.
What began with a small boot and shoe repair shop in 1951, and later with two brothers taking a chance on 1,000 bootjacks, grew into a company with 175 employees doing business in more than 35 countries around the world.
But perhaps the most important part of the M&F story is not the number of employees or countries served.
It's the journey a family that believed in hard work, employees willing to do whatever it took, and dedicated partners who helped turn ideas into quality products. It’s the relationships built by our salespeople with customers, and the trust placed in us by those customers, allowing M&F to become a vital part of their businesses.
